Australian wheat exports over the Oct 01, 2016 -April 19, 2017 period were 46% higher on year This was down to larger crop output and strong demand from South Asian destinations.
The export surplus to Sep 30, 2017 stood at 11.4 mln mt (2016: 8.8 mln mt), because of the referred rise in crop output. Concerns on low protein content could hamper export sales over the next months.

Main export destinations for Australian wheat include Indonesia, Vietnam, China, South Korea and Malaysia. Customs/shipment data suggests an increase in demand for Australian wheat in India, which purchased 2 mln mt from this origin since October.
